A funny thing about the S&P 500 is that it sometimes hits a brick wall when approaching a major resistance level, and other times plows right on through. The most recent example of the S&P plowing through resistance occurred this past week. After setting an all-time high near 1850 back in mid-January, stocks experienced a significant pullback.

I continue to believe the bull market in bonds is over and these will trade lover over the coming years, however small rallies within that downtrend will appear from time to time. Should this continue to bounce off the 2009 highs, which has now become resistance, this could bounce into the $111-115 range before it's next major sell-off begins.

It may have been modest, but the modest move made by the market last week pushed stocks above a very significant hurdle, which has big implications from here. In other words, don't let the small size of last week's gain fool you – it was a big deal, and may have (read 'probably did') reignited the rally that's been in place since late-2011.

Gold reversed this morning after making fresh Daily Cycle highs before moving over $20 to the session lows. Most of the move can be attributed to the dollar's fairly powerful rally as it confirmed a new DailyCycle of its own.

The real breakouts occurred in the S&P and Russell 2000 on Thursday, although it was bit anti-climatic to see these indices make the push given the Nasdaq and Nasdaq 100 had broken out in the weeks before.

Small float (11million) and on the day of it's breakout it traded 12 million shares and the next day 20 million, so it basically traded it's entire float 3 times over. That means lots of new shareholders that are in profit with a bullish chart pattern forming, and this could be one to watch if you are looking for a speculative stock to put some money in.
