Month-over-month nominal sales in July were up 0.03% and up 10.28% YoY. Real Retail Sales, calculated with the seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index, increased by 0.05% and was up 1.65% YoY.

The market fell right out of the gate today as rates surged around the globe, following hotter-than-expected CPI data in the UK. The US retail sales number added to the already surging rates because the report seemed pretty strong on the surface.
