The Dow Jones has topped the 30,000 line, an area that has been talked about for several months. It took a bit of excess liquidity, political breakthrough and hopeful vaccine news to get there, but traders are likely feeling accomplished right now.

On Tuesday, the 124-year old Dow Jones Industrial Average closed above the 30,000 point mark for the first time in its history, almost four years after it first crossed the 20,000 mark.

European markets have continued their momentum from last week and are up this morning. The reaction last week to Pfizer’s announcement that its vaccine has proved 90% effective in trials gave investors a taste of the potential recovery to come.

Markets are mostly in the red this morning after the first presidential debate provoked a cautious reaction. A somewhat disorderly affair has US futures signaling they will open 0.5-0.7% lower.
