Stocks lost their moonshot in the last hour and dumped back all the way to unchanged with a vengeance. Gold and silver managed to hold on to some of their gains, but were well off their highs.

True that silver had been performing better than gold of late, but I have 2 thoughts: I am somewhat concerned about the volatility of penny stocks that you mentioned above. If I was investing in silver I prefer iShares Silver Trust ($SLV), and secondly, with the expectation for more rate hikes in 2017, I foresee that safe haven investments like gold and silver will be worse performers when compared with banking and financial stocks like #Citigroup, #BankOfAmerica, or #Goldman Sachs. Silver ETF Holdings Soar To Record Highs
I sold $SLV calls and $AG shares today because it looks like silver could have a good bit of downside ahead. $17.85 looked like a double top, so the downside was too much for me to bear as a shorter term trader. I'm hoping cycle low comes around the end of the month so that I can scale back into the metals/miners.
