The Banking Index closed at 71.61 with the C-RSI at a good positive level of +10.43.

As we commented last week, without a fully functional Banking system we would be in trouble ... and the economy and the stock market would be in trouble ... so, that makes the Banking group important.
Is It Time To Watch The Banks?
Can the economy still function normally with the Banks in trouble? That is a good reason to follow the banks, because if they get into trouble, the economy won't be far behind.
VIX Update - August 24, 2016
As of yesterday, our VIX chart had not broken below its support line, while it still remained in positive territory.

Institutional investors showed their first day of an increase in selling ... a shift to an uptrend in selling.
Monday's Update - 8/22/2016
Since the bottom in 2009, we have been in an up trend because the Banking Index has made higher/highs and higher/lows.
VIX Update - August 19, 2016
You have to wonder if there is a difference between a short term and long term time frame. Short term, there is a positive bias that is conflicting with a longer term bias. The strength of each is obviously a factor in the time element.
Wednesday's Update - 8/17/2016
VIX has a long term support line that it has been testing. I can't say the test is done quite yet since the VIX is still in a technical down trend.

A reduction of selling by Institutional Investors allows the smaller investor to push the market higher with less money.
Monday's Update - 8/15/2016
If the Transportation Index, confirms a Head & Shoulder pattern, then the downside would be about 760 points from where it ended last Friday.
