More selling hit the Nasdaq while the Dow hangs on. Volume jumped across the board as sellers piled on as earnings season is beginning to sour.

Once again we have another day where the market does not make much progress. Volume was mixed with NYSE volume falling while Nasdaq volume jumped day-over-day.

A semi-weak open gave way to a strong early morning rally and it looked like this rally was going to carry us through throughout the day. But the market spent the rest of the day going nowhere and then selling off into the close.
Stocks Pop, But Fizzle During Late Day Fade
Earnings from NFLX helped boost the Nasdaq higher, but sellers were able to wrestle control over the market just after mid-day. Volume spent most of the day higher across the board, but hardly anything to get excited over.
Quiet Day Of Trading As Stocks Slide
This market continues to remain in a limbo state where any move can come rather quickly. Major indexes are below their respective 50 day moving averages.

Stocks staged a very bearish intraday reversal basically shutting the door on the bulls who thought that the weakness was through following JP Morgan’s earnings on Friday morning.
Earnings Season Heats Up; Market Cools
A shaky start to the day as sellers hit the market hard. The market nearly made it all the way back to positive territory. Volume was higher across the board, but was below average.
Fed Minutes Show Conflicted Central Bank
Interest rate sensitive sectors have been weak as of late. Real Estate and Utilities on the downside whereas Financials would benefit from a rate hike. XLF is certainly in a position to move higher.
Stocks Fall Hard; Distribution Strikes
It did not take long for sellers to take over this market and push the major market averages lower. Volume soared too. Above average on the Nasdaq as healthcare related stocks took a large hit.
Stocks Rise In Light Trade As Bond Market Observes Columbus Day
A day removed from the 2nd Presidential Debate stocks move higher led by Energy and Information Technology stocks. Crude oil jumped to a 51 handle after the Russians reportedly will join an oil production pact.

Raising cash is never an issue in a truly weak market as new long signals fail, old long signals hit profit target levels, and nothing new triggers on the long side.
Stocks Rise As Jobs Friday Nears
A late day slide clipped the day’s gains, but we were able to close higher on the session. Volume ended higher across the board today. Perhaps a good sign we are seeing accumulation?
Utilities Tumble As Bond Yields Jump
Stocks fell on the session as volume increased day-over-day. We did see a late day push higher, but we still see some troubling signs and we’ll need to add some protection.

I am leaving the trading week with a neutral bias but with a little bit more hope that stocks might want to press higher in the short term.
