Apple Kicks PayPal Out The Door Because Of Samsung Partnership

Batman, PayPal was cut out of Apple Pay due to Samsung partnership, Bank Innovation says PayPal (EBAY) was in the running to be a prominent partner in Apple’s (AAPL) rollout of Apple Pay, but talks were scrapped earlier this year after the payments company struck a similar partnership with Samsung (SSNLF) for the Galaxy S5 fingerprint scanner, Bank Innovation reports, citing sources close to the matter.

The sources say Apple was “furious” at PayPal’s partner choice, with one person saying, “Apple kicked them out of the door.” Apple ultimately selected Stripe. (Source).

Apparently PayPal went and inked a deal while in negotiations with Apple on PayPal.

I’m heavily invested in PayPal for payment processing of services, and simply because of their in the marketplace. But now with Apple snubbing them, either PayPal has to choose sides, or I might just jump ship as well. This has to hurt them on the bottom line. Of course this all depends of the future of Apple Pay. But quite frankly, I would bet on Apple before PayPal.
