Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD), operates as a semiconductor company worldwide. The company’s products include mainly x86 microprocessor as an accelerated processing unit (APU) and graphic process units (GPU). It also provides microprocessors for desktop PCs.

Quick Win by the Algorithm

AMD released its Zen MPUs last week that will run applications such as games or video transcoding. There will also be a desktop version that will be released in Q1 of 2017 as well as a notebook version that will be released closer to Summer of 2017.

More recently, AMD just released the Radeon RX 480 which boasts the companies anticipated Polaris architecture. Polaris is AMD's first next generation 14nm 3D FinFET process. Polaris technology will be used for the next few years and is a vast improvement from its predecessors with a 2.8x increase in performance-per-watt. Radeon RX 480 was made specifically to reduce cost and increase power for VR (virtual reality) games. As of right now, the product is competing for the position of best bang for the buck GPU.
