The Real Minimum Wage Is Always Zero No Matter What Politicians Say
Susan Miller 3/26/2024 7:01:21 PM

Good points.  Were the drivers happy with the existing setup?  If so (and I assume they were since there were no shortage of drivers), i don't see why politicians had to interefere.  And if #Uber and #Lyft leave the market, then everyone loses.

Uber, Lyft Revenues Drop By Staggering 50% Due To Coronavirus Outbreak
Backyard Hiker 4/7/2020 4:23:35 AM

That's from last month Anne. #Uber is operating with rideshares down 94% in the US last week. also uber eats loses money on every single delivery so any increase in that is irrelevant actually hurts them more

Kalanick Set To Liquidate Entire Uber Stake After $2.5 Billion Dump
Jack F. Dawson 12/25/2019 11:53:15 PM

Travis Kalanick didn't sell a single share until the all time low of #Uber's stock which was the day of the lockup. That graph makes it look like he started selling before it crashed to all time lows. It is incredibly misleading. $UBER stock is up ALMOST 20% since Travis Kalanick sold his first share.

Uber And Lyft Are Doomed
My Stock Tips 6/9/2019 7:29:45 PM

Excellent point, but I believe the difference there is that #Amazon has reinvested it's profits to become a market leader in an ever expanding array of products and services. #Uber and #Lyft just lose money in an endless competition.

Lyft, Uber IPOs Indicative That This Bull Is About To Be Slaughtered

Shame #Uber and #Lyft don't simply merge. That would solve a lot of the problems.

Ebay Sues Amazon Claiming Illegal And Unethical Activity
Bill Johnson 10/18/2018 4:41:55 PM

Good point. And that was far from #Uber's only crime. They are probably one of the most unethical companies around. Yet they still make a bundle. Same with #Amazon. Even if they lose in court, it will likely amount to a minor slap on the wrist - a tiny percentage of the profits they reaped from this activity.

As long as the punishments are insignificant, the crimes will continue as the reward far outweighs the risk. I hope #eBay wins.

Ebay Sues Amazon Claiming Illegal And Unethical Activity
Danny Straus 10/18/2018 4:33:29 PM

This doesn't surprise me in the least. Remember when #Uber tried to kill #Lyft by having a team constantly order and then cancel cars to annoy its drivers and passengers (when no cars would be available). Unfortunately, just because a big company is involved, doesn't mean ethical practices are. In fact I'd suspect that most companies GOT big by cheating. Just watch the tv show #Billions.

HyreCar Inc. (HYRE) Stock: Selling Shovels In A Gold Rush
Bruce Powers 7/12/2018 5:20:52 PM

Never heard of $HYRE. Interesting model, but if successful I suspect #Uber will either buy them or simply replicate their offering.

Uber Reports Massive $1.5 Billion 3Q Loss As Two Investors Drop Out Of New Financing Round
Leslie Miriam 11/30/2017 6:03:06 PM

The cab lobby is powerful in Israel. But I suspect this had more to do with #Waze - the Israeli GPS app purchased by #Google ($GOOGL). Waze recently started a car sharing aspect to their app and #Uber would have competed greatly with this.

Uber Reports Massive $1.5 Billion 3Q Loss As Two Investors Drop Out Of New Financing Round
Danny Straus 11/30/2017 6:01:39 PM

#Uber grew vastly my just "doing it" and worrying about the ramifications later. In way, this was very smart. As they grew and got noticed by traditional cab companies, lobbyists, and the government, it was no longer easy for them to shut them down. Politicans have to answer to voters who loved Uber and wanted to see them succeed.

Those scandals are making it harder to love them. And other countries are quick to ban them before they manage to get a foothold. #Israel just banned Uber for example.

Uber Reports Massive $1.5 Billion 3Q Loss As Two Investors Drop Out Of New Financing Round

I think most of #Uber's problems revolve around the scandals surrounding it and it's founder.

Uber Reports Massive $1.5 Billion 3Q Loss As Two Investors Drop Out Of New Financing Round
Michael Molman 11/30/2017 5:57:04 PM

#Uber is a revolutionary company but it is under siege from new competitors, media and regulators. The company suffers from the same money losing tendencies of most unicorns, which does not help matters. However under new leadership the company does stand a good chance of turning things around, if company goes public at a solid valuation would definitely consider buying.

A Bumpy Road To The Uber IPO?
Alexis Renault 10/3/2017 1:43:02 PM

Socially responsible riders should use #Lyft or another ride service over #Uber. Together we can make Uber's path even bumpier than it is already!
