Facebook: The Ministry Of Truth?
Michelle Bell 2/6/2018 5:46:21 PM

Haven't you ever seen The Social Network movie about #Facebook? I think you believe #Zuckerberg to be far more altruistic than he really is. He'll do what helps his bottom line and step on anyone if it helps his goals. $FB

Facebook: The Ministry Of Truth?

While these are good ideas, do you really think Russia paid for those #Facebook ads in rubles? They likely used shell companies of shell companies of shell companies that aren't so easy to track. Even if Facebook looked at who was paying for the ads, it would likely take a forensic expert to track the money all the way back to Russia. I highly doubt #Zuckerberg was trying to help #Trump by accepting those ads. He was duped just as much as the rest of America.

I at least give him credit for trying to do what he can to fix the problem. $FB

Drones Vs. Balloons

But can they even afford smart-phones to use the internet? Plus, the cheapest in-app purchase I've ever seen is 99 cents. Practically free for Americans, but not for people living up $2.50 per day. I still don't see how these companies can make money off this. Especially #Airbus. At least #Google and #Facebook can make some profits on increased advertising. Please enlighten me.

Drones Vs. Balloons

Fascinating. #Zuckerberg has been very vocal about bringing internet to the world, so I was aware of their efforts, but I had no idea there was a literal race between #Facebook, #Google, and #Airbus to connect underdeveloped countries to the web. This will open countless doors for industry, innovation, education, and more.

But I'm not clear on whether these companies are pursuing this for altruistic reasons or just their bottom line. Do they hope to simply make more ad revenue or perhaps sell services to these regions (who have limited liquid cash to spend), or do they expect to make money on the drones/balloons themselves by selling the technology to those countries.

I'd love some elaboration on the "who will foot the bill" section.

What Makes Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google So Special

There is something magical about #Apple, #Amazon, #Facebook and #Google. Did the author provide any insight into any other companies? $AAPL $AMZN $FB $GOOGL

What Makes Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google So Special

I think the author means when #Facebook first launched, and you could only join if you were a student and had a legitimate.edu account. I agree that set them apart from MySpace. MySpace was first but quickly devolved into a wildwest for perverts and predators.

Now however, I would say that Facebook has followed the same path. Of course if they stuck to their.edu requirement, they would be a fraction of the size and somewhat elitist. $FB

Since when does #Facebook require people use their real identities? There's millions of fake users. Heck, you can buy like 100,000 facebook likes for $5 online.

Twitter Plunges After US Monthly Users Drop; Ad Revenues Tumble
Karen Klein 7/27/2017 10:12:23 PM

I'm pretty sure #Facebook makes virtually all of it's ad dollars from #mobile. Not sure if any of that will apply to mobile anyway.

But I expect as usage increases, Facebook will continue to excel in generating ad revenue. For whatever reason, #Twitter never lived up to it's potential. $TWTR $FB

Twitter Plunges After US Monthly Users Drop; Ad Revenues Tumble

It's true. Not just on Twitter though. You can buy #Facebook or #Twitter follows by the thousands. And thousands of companies/individuals offer this service. If thousands of people own thousands of fake accounts... well you can do the math. $FB $TWTR

Twitter Plunges After US Monthly Users Drop; Ad Revenues Tumble

It is hard monetizing this, however with dropping active users is going to make it even harder. Sadly #Google and #Facebook will make it hard for any major new Internet media to generate ad revenue. Be careful picking start ups in this space. $TWTR $FB $GOOGL

8 Reasons Why We're Not Snapping Snap's IPO

#Snap is going to very quickly replace #Twitter. Change always comes from the next generation - among my friends, I don't know anyone who still uses Twitter; they've all moved over to #Snap. Just like with #Facebook, all you old folks will eventually follow suit. $FB $TWTR $SNAP
