Obamacare: Clear Winners & Losers

Date: Thursday, October 31, 2013 10:10 AM EDT

America’s Declaration of Independence spelled out some unalienable rights. Those not-to-be-denied basic categories did not include access to cost-free housing, food or healthcare.

Under the inappropriately-named Affordable Care Act (AKA Obamacare and the ACA) the right to free healthcare has now been bestowed on no-income, low income and even moderate income American citizens as well as many people who happen to live in the United States illegally.

Individuals with pre-existing health conditions need to be taken care of. Nobody should see their life ruined financially due to bad health. The ACA rightly addressed that issue. That group of people is the biggest winner under the new system.

There is “No Free Lunch”. Free healthcare does not exist. Giving no-cost coverage to some families means other people must pay for both themselves as well as these 'involuntarily adopted' dependents.

Government officials trumpet premium subsidies without ever mentioning where the money for those subsidies will come from. It will be raised from ever higher taxes on those who pay the most taxes already.

Here is a short list of major beneficiaries and those who will suffer due to Obamacare.
