more Cathy is Content Director at Institutional Investor Journals. She creates editorial content that supports the group’s core scholarly publications. Her focus is on making the technical research more accessible to a broader audience and enhancing user engagement. She spearheaded the addition of video and audio across www.iijournals.com and launched an innovative, web-first offering called Practical Applications. Cathy—who spent 10 years with Institutional Investor through 2000—returned in 2011. During her absence, she launched a business with her husband in the building industry in Brisbane, Australia. The couple also owned and operated oyster leases in Moreton Bay. Cathy and her husband sold the business in 2004 and embarked on a seven-year blue water cruise on their 40-foot sloop. They traveled 30,000-miles, lived in 28 countries and educated their son—who was five when they left—on board. The family relied on wind and solar energy to power their boat, and they lived in uninhabited atolls for extended periods of time. Prior to moving to Australia, Cathy worked in Hong Kong for Institutional Investor’s Newsletter Group, launching Asia-Pacific content for various titles. Before that, from 1990-1996, Cathy worked in New York for the same group, in a variety of positions. Before she left New York for Hong Kong, she was an Executive Editor managing publishing teams and launching new products, including Real Estate Finance & Investment. Since returning to the United States in 2011, Cathy has become an avid yacht racer and skier. She is a two-time winner of the Padraic Fallon Editorial Award.
