Economic Events Of The Coming Week - 10/16/2016

Monday: The final estimate for September’s Consumer Price Index will be released in the Eurozone, currently pointing to 0.4% annual inflation. In the U.S., October’s Empire Manufacturing Survey will see light. September’s Industrial Production will also be released in the U.S. The Bank of America (BAC) is scheduled to announce the third quarter’s earnings. The ECB’s Draghi is scheduled to speak in Frankfurt.

Tuesday: September’s Consumer Price Index will be released in the U.K. Analysts expect the weakening of the GBP and rising oil prices to pull annual inflation upwards, to 0.9%. September’s Consumer Price Index is also due for release in the U.S., with expectations for an increase of inflation to a hefty 1.5% – close to the Fed’s 2% mandate. Intel and Yahoo! will announce their earnings for the third quarter.

Wednesday: September Industrial Production data will be released in China, as will the third quarter’s Gross Domestic Product data. In Japan, August’s All-Industry Activity Index will see light. In the U.K., September’s Unemployment data will see light, as will Jobless Claims data. The weekly MBA Mortgage Applications will see light in the U.S., as will September’s Housing Starts data. The Bank of Canada is scheduled to release a rate decision, with analysts eyeing a stable 0.5%. Morgan Stanley (MS) will announce the third quarter’s earnings, as will eBay (EBAY).

Thursday: The ECB is scheduled to announce interest rates. In the U.S., the weekly Initial Jobless Claims data will see light, as well as September’s Existing Home Sales data and the month’s Leading Index data. An earnings release is also due by Microsoft (MSFT).

Friday: September’s Consumer Price Index data will be released in Canada – Similar to the U.S., analysts are eyeing an increase of annual inflation from 1.1% to 1.4%. October’s Advance Consumer Confidence Index will be released at the Eurozone.
