Ulta Gains On Strong Q3 Earnings, Holiday Forecast

Ulta Beauty (ULTA - Free Report) released its third quarter fiscal 2016 financial results after the bell, posting diluted earnings of $1.40 and revenues of $1.13 billion. ULTA is a #2 (Buy) on the Zacks Rank, and is up almost 5% to $270 per share in after-hours trading.

Beat earnings estimates. The company reported diluted earnings of $1.40, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.37 cents per share and increasing 26.1% year-over-year.

Beat revenue estimates. The company saw revenue figures of $1.13 billion, also beating our consensus estimate of $1.108 billion and rising 24.2% year-over-year.

Total comparable sales increased 16.7% during Q3, compared to an increase of 12.8% in the year-ago quarter, thanks to an 11.1% growth in transactions and 5.6% growth in average ticket. E-commerce sales grew 59.1% to $73.6 million.

For its holiday quarter, Ulta expects revenues in the range of $1.516 billion to $1.541 billion. Total comps are expected to rise 12% to 14%, while earnings per share is estimated to be in the range of $2.08 to $2.13.
