Amaze-balls

As inclined as I am to short anything with a ticker symbol, there’s one I avoid like the plague: Amazon (AMZN). One glance at a chart will show you why:

This monster has a price/earnings ratio of over 202, and it simply hits lifetime highs day after day. One wonders if this thing will ever enter its own bear market. I can only imagine the countless zillions lost trying to short (or buy puts on……) this beast.

On a totally and wholly unrelated note, I wanted to share a quick tip for you laptop users out there………if this helps one or two Slopers, it’ll have been worth it: over the past few days, one of my laptops would suddenly and without warning turn itself off. Now I’ve got enough computer experience (36 years, thank you very much) to know that this probably means it’s overheating, but I was puzzled why it hadn’t happened before.

I brought it into the neighborhood nerd shop, and I offered the guy my prognosis. He agreed and said it probably needed a new fan, which he would order. I left the laptop with him a few minutes to run some tests while i bought some chicken food (that’s what everyone does, right?), and when I came back, he announced the problem was fixed. He had taken a bottle of compressed hair, squeezed the trigger, and – – I quote – – “a whole sh*t-ton of dust came out”.

So basically what had happened was, over the years, enough dust had accumulated inside so as to stop the fan from even rotating. Thus, the computer still worked, but after a few hours, the CPU would get to a heat level that automatically shut the computer off (in order to protect itself). I asked him how much, and he said twenty bucks. “A twenty dollar blow-job, here ya go”, I oh-so-wittily said as I handed him the Jackson. So, that was that. Keep it in mind.

Oh, one last thing – – we’ve got a three-fer tomorrow:
