Economic Events Of The Coming Week - Sunday, Feb. 19

Monday: U.S. markets will be closed for Presidents' Day. January Trade Balance data will see light in Japan. In Russia, January Unemployment data will see light. Advance Jan Consumer Confidence Index data will be released for the Eurozone.

Tuesday: February’s Nikkei Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index will see light in Japan, as will the All Industry Activity Index for December. The Final estimate of January’s Consumer Price Index will be released in France. Preliminary February Markit Purchasing Managers’ Indices are due throughout the Eurozone, as well as in the U.S. The Bank of England’s Governor, Carney, is scheduled to speak in the U.K. Parliament.

Wednesday: February’s IFO Survey is due in Germany. In the U.K., the preliminary (second) Q4 GDP figure will see light, with analysts expecting stability at 2.2% annual growth. The Final print for January’s Consumer Price Index datum is due in the Eurozone, currently seeing healthy 1.8% annual inflation. The weekly MBA Mortgage Applications will see light in the U.S, as will January’s Existing Home Sales data. The Fed will release the minutes of February’s rate decision.

Thursday: The Final print for Q4’s GDP data will see light in Germany. In the U.S., the weekly Initial Jobless Claims will see light, where analysts expect last week’s modest 239K job figure to be followed by 241K claims.

Friday: February Consumer Confidence Index data will be released in France. January’s CPI will be released in Canada – analysts expect annual inflation to nudge upwards, to 1.6%. In the U.S., January New Home Sales data will see light, as will the final estimate of the University of Michigan’s Consumer Sentiment Index data for February.
